Past Events – Domestic Information

Bangkok, Thailand, 4—19 July 2005

The Asia-Pacific Development Center on Disability (APCD), Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, located in Bangkok, Thailand, is a legacy of the Asian and Pacific Decade of Disabled Persons (1993—2002). Its objective is to promote the empowerment of persons with disabilities and a barrier-free society in developing countries in the Asia-Pacific region.

APCD has been jointly established under the collaboration of the Government of Japan and the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand since 1 August 2002. Furthermore, APCD is also working in close cooperation with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), other United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations whose work is related to persons with disabilities.

The Regional Workshop on Accessible Web-based Information Networking is one of the activities conducted by APCD in cooperation with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to promote web-based information networking of persons with disabilities in accessible format, in the Asia – Pacific region.

The expected output of the workshop is a contribution to APCD’s regional web-based information networking as well as to create, maintain and develop accessible and informative websites of APCD focal points and associate organizations. In this regard, APCD is anticipating accessible pertinent regional information regarding disability with organizations of/for persons with disabilities to share.
